Warm Cacao Drink

I first made this cashew drink when I was making my raw carrot cake and I accidentally soaked too many cashew nuts. I didn’t want to throw them away so I thought I would make cashew nut milk. That day I was also craving chocolate so I thought; cashew nut milk and cocoa powder mixed together sounds like a good solution to satisfy my chocolate cravings.

I enjoy this drink hot or cold. In winter try it warmed with some cinnamon and in the summer blitz it up with some ice and turn it into chocolate milk shake. I used raw cacao powder but you can also use cocoa powder just make sure it is unsweetened.

Healthy Hot Chocolate

Makes: 2 cups
Preparation time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups filtered water 1/2 cup cashew nuts
  • 1/2 cups cashew nuts
  • 1 tbsp coconut nectar
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. Soak the cashew nuts in filtered water for about 4 hours.
  2. Drain the water and rinse thoroughly.
  3. Add 2 cups of filtered water, the rest of the ingredients, and blitz it up in a blender until smooth.
